Dumpster for a roof tear-off
Asphalt shingles are among the heaviest things a household ever puts in a roll-off. Size the container by weight, not by how big the roof looks.

Roofers measure in squares: one square is 100 square feet of roof. Give the company the number of squares and, just as important, the number of layers coming off. A second layer roughly doubles the weight.
A single layer on a modest house often goes in a 15 or 20-yard. Two layers, or a big roof, may need two smaller containers instead of one large one, so the weight stays inside the allowance.
If your roofer isn't hauling the old shingles away, check whose name the rental goes in and who is home for the drop.
Close to the eaves
The shorter the throw from the roof edge, the fewer shingles land in the flower beds. Tarp the beds and lean plywood over basement window wells.
After the last bundle
Run a magnetic sweeper over the lawn and driveway for nails before the container leaves, then again after pickup where it stood.
Can old plywood decking go in with the shingles?
Usually, yes, but it can spoil a shingle-only recycling load. Ask before mixing.
Does East Moline need a permit for re-roofing?
Yes. The East Moline page has the details.
Got a pile and a date in mind?
One call reaches an independent dumpster rental company working the Davenport area. A rough idea of what's going in, and where the container can sit, is all you need to start.
Rent a roll-off
Have your street, the project and the week you want it ready. The rental company quotes size, drop-off date and price.
